Donnita was born on February 9, 1971 to her loving parents, Russell and Donnita Hobson. She was their fourth child and the only girl. She confessed Christ at an early age and attended Faith Tabernacle Baptist Church and St. Clotilde Catholic Church and was a very spiritual person her entire life.
Donnita loved to laugh and make people laugh too. She was a graduate of Caldwell Elementary School, Hyde Park Career Academy and DeVry University. She was a member of the Pompom Team, the National Honor Society at Hyde Park and won 1st Place in the Double Dutch Competitions. Donnita excelled in her studies and became a member of Sigma Beta Delta International Honor Society at DeVry. She achieved excellence in Pharmaceutical studies and became an Instructor at Everest College teaching Pharmacy Technician classes until her health failed.
Even though she only gave birth to one child, she was a mother to many and touched the hearts of everyone who encountered her; spreading God’s love by giving her time, talent and treasure. She will always be remembered for her fierce love of her son, Richard, and her artistic creativity. She loved music of any genre, animals and Barbie dolls. She loved Barbie dolls so much that she created a room specifically for them with their own handmade dollhouse, miniature cities and even designed their clothes. Donnita's creativity extended to her own company, Exquisite Baskets, where she made beautiful baskets for any and every occasion.
Donnie was a strong, devoted, fiercely independent woman, who was always the life of the party.
After 53 glorious years, 2 Timothy 4:7-8 (NLT) best describes the life of our beloved: "I have fought a good fight. I have finished the race and I have remained faithful. And now the prize awaits me..."
Donnita was a beloved daughter, sister, mother and friend. She had the most beautiful smile that could light up your soul. If you were fortunate enough to be in her presence, the pure joy radiating from her would fill you. She will be deeply missed by all that knew and loved her.
Her parents and brother, Darren, her two special friends, Dorthea Speath and Donnetta Eldridge preceded her in death.
Her legacy will live on through her devoted family and friends.
