Michael A. Griffin

Michael A. Griffin was born June 17, 1952, in Chicago,  IL to Willie James Griffin and Mary Francis Griffin who preceded  him in death.  Michael accepted Christ at an early age. He was a member of Bethel Green Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a young musician.  In 1971, he became a member of Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. John Wesley Phillips where served as the musician for some years.   In 1973, Michael married his first love, Alfredia Casara (who preceded him in death) to whom 3 children were born to this union.  In the latter years of his life,  Michael rejoined Bethel Green MB Church until the unfortunate closing of the church. Michael completed his Christian journey at Three Crosses of Calvary MB Church. 

Michael  attended Dunbar Vocational High School while attending Lyon & Healy Music School in Chicago.  After graduating from Dunbar, Michael began taking college courses at the University of Illinois at Chicago  (UIC) where he studied Accounting.   He spent many of his working years at Photo Press in Broadview, IL until his eyesight began to decline. 

On Sunday, October 6, 2024. God proclaimed it's time for Michael to come from labor to reward. He leaves to cherish his memory, three children, Sean Casara, Miguel  Casara, and Yoland Casara-Pitts; one special daughter,  LaDonna Hopkins; four adopted daughters of his long time special, Sharon, who preceded him in death; Requeshia Perkins, Jasmine Perkins, Shenisha Perkins, Jasmine Perkins, and Shanyah Morris; five siblings,  Nathalie, James, Willie Jr., Lucinda and Pamela; sixteen grandchildren; seven great-grandxhildren; four nephews and a host of close relatives and friends.
